I’m Kristen, a thirtysomething mom of a three year old.

I’m here because I love food, and I love to talk about it more than most people have a tolerance for. This is my place to wax rhapsodic about cilantro, cocktails, sushi, steak, lambic, or salads. Or ice cream. Or grits. Or Sriracha.

I don’t hate many foodstuffs…licorice, rutabagas. I guess you won’t be hearing much about those.
My partners in crime are usually Angela, a thirtysomething mom of four who shares my love of grub…but on most days has to settle for pb&js, hot dogs, and Teddy Grahams; and Amy, another thirtysomething mom with mad cooking skills and a palate to match.

It’s great to see some Athens folks about on the blogosphere! Some of your posts bring back great memories. My wife and I now live in Japan, but I would kill to jump on a plane, swoosh into Athens, and grab a slice from Peppinos. Memories….
Hey there Kristen,
My name is Darcy Lenz and I am an upcoming sophmore at the University of Georgia, double majoring in English & magazine journalism & minoring in consumer foods. I’m aspiring to someday enter the field of food writing. I have an extreme passion for foooooood and the innumerable ways that it impacts our lives. Anyway, I found your blog while perusing Athens Food and Culture Magazine online and simply wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying it. While I was aware that Athens is a culinary goldmind of local flavor, I suppose I just did not know HOW MUCH of one. The the treasure which the Athens food scene has to offer is truly overwhelming, as well as terribly exciting. I was also wondering if you have any advice or pointers to offer an aspiring culinary journalist. Any guidance you have would be highly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Darcy Lenz
Darcy, thank you so much! I think we should have lunch. What’s your schedule like? You can reach me at foodieville@gmail.com.
Great blog!
Thanks, Tami! You are GORGEOUS, by the way!
Hey Kristen, I just wanted to say that I am missing your updates! Only one in the last 15 months? And true, Harry’s Pig Shop is very good, but that’s not enough to satisfy me. I hope you start writing again soon, as I like your blog very much.
I really appreciate it, Grant. I’m active on Twitter, but I admit I let my blog suffer. I had a baby and got a new job this year, and I have NO time! :) I’ll try to get back in the saddle.
Loved your article on the rise of Riesling. I try to tell my fellow food warriors that this German wine is going be a bit of a big deal. But they always dismiss me as being a novice foodie. But now I have your article to shame them. ;-)
Cheers
Druthers G
Thanks so much! :) Yeah, snobs stink. I’m not one of them. I just like food.
